Installation at South Norfolk District Council
MarQuest had a brief to supply a state-of-the-art wireless LAN system and South Norfolk Council headquarters to replace an aging and poorly performing wireless system.
The new system installed used Trapeze Networks a/b/g mobility points with MX switches to provide a centrally managed solution protected with an AirDefense Intrusion Protection (IPS) System. Total building coverage was provided to include wireless LAN coverage for an outdoor recreational area serviced from an outdoor mobility point. In the main council chamber a high user density was accommodated by judicial choice of mobility point placement and channel selection.
MarQuest provided a choice of systems to the council following initial site survey work. Factors leading to the selection of Trapeze were its manageability and the high degree of security available. During the site survey MarQuest identified interference emanating from the building’s security sensors which would have disrupted wireless LAN reliability. These sources were removed prior to the install.
The timescale for this installation was short. MarQuest were able to deliver the system on time and within budget. The system passed its performance test by council IT staff with flying colours and continues to perform well. On completion of the installation, MarQuest provided training for council IT staff on how to use the Trapeze Networks RingMaster system to manage the wireless LAN system and on the use of the AirDefense IPS system to maintain security.
MarQuest installation services are competitively priced using highly qualified engineers, we supply the latest hardware and software solutions from a range of vendors and provide a full training service for IT personnel.
